Making your own oat bars

Oat bars is a very healthy snack and for some a quick breakfast. The store bought oat bars is filled with preservatives, flavorings and contains a hole lot of sugar. Making your own oat bars is a healthier choice and can also be much more cost-effective when you use some wholesome ingredients like oats, honey and nuts.

In the basic recipe you mix banana, oats, egg and then bake it. By customizing it you can enhance the taste or add ingredients to make it healthier. Some examples will be nuts, dried fruits, chocolate chips etc. The process is easy: mix ingredients, press them into a pan, and bake or refrigerate.

My personal favorite recipe is a dark chocolate chip oat bar. Use the following ingredients:

  • 2 bananas

  • 1 egg

  • 1 cup of oats

  • 1/4 cup walnuts

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup protein powder

  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

Mix all the ingredients together and either place into a pan or make some oat balls. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes on 180°C until light brown. If you prefer something with a more fruity taste replace the chocolate chips with dried cranberry's or raisins.

Make this recipe your own and play around with the ingredients. Feel free to watch our video on you tube: https://youtube.com/shorts/E7FA3MAgkSg?feature=share.
